Right in between Neumarkt and Zülpicher Platz
Find here a selection of our favourite locations that our guests love to visit
Cologne is internationally/well known for its cathedral and numerous roman churches, also its museums, art galleries, the philharmonic hall (‘Philharmonie’), the musical dome, the theatre (‘Schauspielhaus’) and opera, as well as its cabarets! Big concerts and events take place at the Lanxess arena (formerly ‘Köln Arena’) But Cologne has so much more to offer, mainly due to the culture of each quarter…the so called “Veedel”. Why doesn’t Cologne give the impression of being a megacity although it is? Because we do like it…small small small… and love to celebrate our 86 ‘Veedel’. Cologne manages to combine the flair of a big city with the charme of a small town and you simply feel welcome everywhere. We’d like to introduce some important spots/places which are easily and quickly to be reached..we invite you to check out the links further down the page.
Wolkenburg - the event location
At the Wolkenburg weddings aren’t simply hosted, birthdays commenced and meetings held but every occasion is being celebrated…including every tiny detail! With a passion for the extraordinary! ..and with staff that does never forget what it is about… to make you have an outstanding/unforgettable time at either your wedding, the business event or a meeting.
Zülpicher Platz - and Zülpicher Straße
Our Jahnstraße leads after 200mtr directly to the Zülpicher Platz and continues to the Zülpicher Straße. This is the ‘epicentre’ of our student quarter…the latin quarter (‘Kwartier Latäng’ in kölsch). Clubs, cocktail bars, pubs, pizza and ‘döner kebab’ places..everything is combined within a few hundred metres. Everything what you need to warm up for a night out. ..and after that to the Belgian Quarter?…or down to the ‘Friesenstraße’?...or you prefer to stay at the ‘RingStreet’?...maybe to the old town? That’s the question….
Belgisches Viertel - Brüsseler Platz
Only a few minutes away, it has become one of Cologne’s most popular ‘In-Quarters’. Its boutiques , galleries, studios/artist’s workshops, gorgeous cafes and stylish bars and most important the Brüsseler Platz…the meeting point at the weekends, make the Belgian Quarter to one of the hippest spots of the city.
Friesenplatz - and Friesenstraße
..again one of those places where you simply love to get ‘stuck’. Great cocktaibars and pubs…and some of the most popular clubs in Cologne are just around the corner. But take care...be aware and try to appear as sober as possible/don’t stagger over too obviously, otherwise you’ll be told TO STAY OUT!
For a long time the Ehrenstraße was the ‘Insider Tip’ for shopping...it was the place for small boutiques…aside the big chains. Meanwhile it has become quite well known and even those big chains have settled down there. But it’s still a nice addition to the popular shopping streets such as ‘Schildergasse’ and ‘Hohe Straße’ with its “usual suspects” such as Primark, Pimkie, H&M, Zara &Co…
Altstadt - our historical centre
Almost 2000 years old..our ‘Classic’ from the Roman Times. The charming atmosphere of the historical centre alongside the Rhine and around the ‘Alter Markt” and ‘Heumarkt’ is due to the nice mix of restaurants, boutiques, breweries, residential areas and cultural sites. Lovely little squares between cobblestone lanes/alleyways and historical frame houses simply invite to stay and enjoy a coffee or two.
Koelnmesse - int. trade show location
Unfortunately you’re not only here to enjoy the city but take part or visit one of the various events at the ‘Kölnmesse’? Great/Well! Only 200mtr away you get on the tram and exit 5 stopps later and are almost right at the fair area. And in the evenings after a long but hopefully successful day you got everything, that Cologne’s hospitality has to offer, right in front of your door. …to simply enjoy your well deserved after-work-hours.
